Building Business and Community

The Mullumbimby Chamber Of Commerce is a mixture of businesses and community groups that have come together for the  purpose of taking care of our town, not only in the present but also to have input into the future of our great town. We are a broad representation of our town, and as a result have formed a strong partnership with Byron Shire Councilors and staff.

The Chamber has hosted numerous events since its inception in 2013. These include street banquets, the rehashing of The Chinny Charge and Carols By Candlelight.  Every year The Chamber conducts a Shop Local campaign prior to Christmas with great success. The Chamber also supports Brunswick Valley Historical Society, Mullumbimby Community Gardens, Gate Way Landcare, Spaghetti Circus and many other community organizations.

One of our major partners is Creative Mullumbimby, with whom we have supported many art projects as well as the Big Picture Show. This was facilitated to help guide our town’s future. Through strategic funding, innovative projects and community-focused events, the Chamber aims to highlight the many facets of our region and stimulate the local economy.

Food supplied on the day by Mullumbimby Public School at affordable prices.

The entry fee is $50 for runners and $25 for non-competitors. If you leave it to the last minute it is $75 on the day if there are spaces available.

Are you over 12?

Importantly, competitors have to be 12 years and over to run or walk up the mountain. There will be a separate Children’s Challenge to the base of the mountain, which leaves before the main event, at 1.30pm (entry $15).

The race will start and finish outside the fire station, and NSW Fire and Rescue Station 388 will also be assisting with first aid.

Due to the COVID-19 requirements all bibs for the race will be sent out via mail to individual nominations.

Prizes

There are a range of prizes that can be won as part of the Chinny Charge from the fastest man and woman to cross the line ($500), the fastest local woman and man, the oldest woman and man to participate in the charge. The Kevin Moran memorial shield is ‘awarded for special effort and encouragement of others’ and was donated in his memory by his closest friends and adopted family – the Davis family of Main Arm.
